Top 3 Finish for Agudath Israel Director in “Wisest Wonk” Contest

The second annual Fordham Institute Wonkathon contest featured essays written by fourteen prominent education scholars, practitioners, and policy analysts. Agudath Israel’s Rabbi A. D. Motzen finished in third place with 15% of the votes (the second place winner received 17% of the votes).

In Rabbi Motzen’s essay, titled, “Why almost universal is not good enough”, he argued that the so-called  universal” Nevada ESA program can’t be called universal unless it includes current private school students and new students to the state.

“Thank you to all those who voted,” said Rabbi Motzen. “I hope that policymakers in Nevada will revisit this issue next session and make their ESA a truly universal program. For me, that would be a first prize finish.”
