School Choice in Ohio is growing!

The numbers for student participation in Ohio’s five school choice scholarship programs are in! All five programs have grown significantly, a function of increasing parental demand and the Ohio Department of Education’s significant efforts to streamline the process for applicants. The approximate numbers (finalized counts will be released later in December) indicate a total number of 46,050 scholarships across all five programs. This is an increase of 10,800 students (30%) from the 2014-2015 school year.
These increased numbers vindicate the efforts of the General Assembly and Governor Kasich to respond to parental demand and ensure that more students are afforded the ability to choose the school that best fits their needs. Agudath Israel commends the Ohio Department of Education and School Choice Ohio for their efforts to inform parents about their options and for assisting them in making that important choice.
