Is Agudath Israel’s Rabbi A. D. Motzen the “Wisest Wonk”? Vote Today.

Sponsored by the Fordham Institute, the second annual Wonkathon contest featured essays written by fourteen prominent education scholars, practitioners, and policy analysts. Each writer was asked to address the following questions:

As Nevada implements its groundbreaking education savings account (ESA) program, what must it get right in order to provide positive outcomes for kids and taxpayers? Should state authorities stay out of the way? Or are there certain areas that demand oversight and regulation?

Agudath Israel’s Rabbi A. D. Motzen penned a response, titled, “Why almost universal is not good enough.” In it, he argued that the so-called “universal” Nevada ESA program can’t be called universal unless it includes current private school students and new students to the state.
