Celebration in Harrisburg
On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg was the site of the 16th annual celebration for the EITC – Education Improvement Tax Credit – program. Hundreds of nonpublic school students from around the Commonwealth joined in the celebration to express their appreciation for the $175 million in scholarships provided to more than 50,000 students across the state through two scholarship programs (EITC & OSTC). Over 100 Jewish day school students from Philadelphia and Harrisburg participated in the event which was co-sponsored by the REACH Foundation and Teach PA/Orthodox Union.
Coinciding with the EITC event was the annual PA CAPE (Pennsylvania state chapter of the Council for American Private Education) awards luncheon for teachers and administrators. A distinguished group of educators from nonpublic schools across the Commonwealth were chosen by a panel of judges to determine the winners according to each age group. Rabbi Ariel Sadwin, Agudath Israel’s Mid-Atlantic director and member of PA CAPE attended both events.
